We take a short bus ride up to Monte Naranco to see a pre-Romanesque summer palace: Santa Maria del Naranco and the San Miguel de Lillo church nearby.

The details in the palace remind me of cookies and braided dough. Lots of familes are swarming all over the palace taking photos. A pregnant lady gives out tickets (even though admission is free today) and looks after the building. At the half hour point, she shoos us out of the upper floor, locks up, and walks 100m. to the church and unlocks the door there for visitors. Seems she does this every half hour...who makes a pregnant woman do this?

We return to Oviedo and walk around the old town near the Catedral de San Salvador. We find a Mercadona (Spanish supermarket chain) and get some stuff for lunch. The store brand chips are very good! I also stock up on some caviar moisturizer.

I suddenly want to go to the orthodontist.

Oviedo is where Woody Allen filmed some scenes of Vicky Cristina Barcelona. We find the bar/restaurant where he filmed one of the scenes hoping to grab some dinner. When we figure out how to get into the door, we order drinks, but it doesn't seem that anyone else is eating? We finally figure out they don't serve food on Mondays. FAIL!

We find an italian restaurant close by for dinner and then walk back through the night. We check out the tribute statue to Woody Allen. A vandal had removed his glasses.
