There's not much to do in Santiago so we go on a day trip to La Coruña, a coastal town that's about a 30 min. train ride to the north. It's a nice sunny day as we walk through the city to Playa Orzan and then along the promenade.

We could hunt for our own percebes!

We walk up the Torre de Hercules , an ancient Roman lighthouse, while Diego waits for us at the bottom. Lots of interesting sculptures are found along the path as we walk up the hill to the tower.

We pick up Diego and head back into the middle of town and stop for lunch. Diego introduces us to Solomillo al Pedro Ximénez (Pork loin with Pedro Ximénez sauce). Pedro Ximénez is a white grape that is used to make a sweet dessert sherry. It's very tasty. We settle into our usual after meal routine, 2 cafe con leche (coffee with milk) for me and sophia and a cafe solo con hielo for Diego( (black coffee with ice). We witness a guy climb up a drain pipe and into a window...and then a cop car shows up later...coincidence?

We visit the Maria Pita Plaza, commemorating the Spanish revolutionary.

We go for dinner back in Santiago. Of course there's more pulpo, asparagus with jamon, and Sophia and I share a seafood paella (a bit on the salty side).

The pitcher of sangria foils our group shot. Sorry Diego!

That's better.
