It's an early morning wake-up to catch our flight to Sardegna. Once again, we have trouble with the gate in front of our B&B and it takes us a few minutes to locate the release button. Gates! the bane of our of travels. We manage to get to the bus stop for the airport in time and we're on our way to Sardegna! We land in Olbia and since we can't find accomodations in Arazchenna, we change our plans and head for Palau, a beach town near the Magdellana Archipelago. We have to take a bus ride from Olbia to Palau and the bus driver informs us very expressively that we can't eat on the bus.
The bus pulls into the marina in Palau and the water looks deliciously clear and cool.
We check into Hotel la Roccia and meet the very helpful Sabrina. The hotel is just off the main strip of shops and restaurants and a very close walk to the marina. We set out to explore the local beach and walk along the water.
We have an awesome dinner at Ristorante San Giorgio. We start with a grilled calamari over a pea and leek sauce and topped with bacon. This calamari will rival the one we have later in spain. For mains, I have the spaghetti with clams and Sophia has the tomato and ricotta ravioli (no trace of fish!). They're both delish, but the ravioli is superior. [Delish food picts from Sophia]
Along the waterfront, Palau is pretty much a tourist town. At night, part of the main street closes off to vehicles and merchants set up a night market. There are also stages set up for street performers. We check our email, have a look around and end the night with some gelato.
