Day 10: Chengdu (成都) to Kunming (昆明)

We have a morning with pandas at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (成都大熊猫繁育研究基地).

Let me gnaw on your foot...nom nom nom nom nom.

Here's a red panda. It resembles a mix between a raccoon and a fox. For those wondering, this is the animal that Master Shifu is from Kungfu Panda.

After the pandas, we catch a flight from Chengdu (成都) to Kunming (昆明). We endure another 2.5hr. delay. Once the delay is announced, the airline provides a box lunch for waiting passengers to pick-up. As the call rings out to "pick up rice" the hoardes run waving their boarding passes to get their cardboard box of goodies and a bottle of water. The box contains an orange, a small container of squash, some rice and pork stir-fry, and a bun.

We arrive in Kunming and visit the Tongwa Temple (太和宫金殿) before dinner.

Dinner is a special mushroom hot pot of local types of mushrooms. We're warned that if they're not cooked properly, they could be bad for us....hmmmmm...
